My journey from open work permit to permanent residence was a very complicated one. One that involved major decisions, lots of back-and- forth with my first family and authorities in the Philippines, delays in submissions and missing documentations, and extra ordinary letters to IRCC requesting for deadline extensions and explaining my circumstances. In April 2019, I received my approval for permanent residence and I only have KMC to thank very much for working with me and holding my hand through these two years. I nearly cried out in relief!
It was the middle of the pandemic when I received a notice of decision and I was confused and had questions about many things. KMC’s Library Settlement Partnership worker gave me very clear information and helped me apply for permanent residence – all this was done remotely. I got the same level of help even during the pandemic!
I was an IT professional back home but found looking for a job in Canada too overwhelming and daunting. KMC introduced and referred me to JVS Employment which eventually helped me land my professional job. Later, KMC also helped me get my wife to Canada. After three months of submitting my spousal sponsorship through KMC’s help, I welcomed my wife in Canada. I am forever grateful.
