Our Impact

The reunification of our family (I came with my sons, and my husband followed later) in Canada had been a long and challenging journey, but our KMC settlement counselor somehow managed to make our exhausting lives easy and manageable. She was wonderful and responded to my queries promptly and generously. Her knowledge and professionalism calmed my worries and anxieties. Such a blessing!

“I came to Canada as a live-in caregiver and KMC gave me guidance and direction from the time I arrived up to the processing of my work permit extension and permanent residence application, all the way through to sponsorship of my family and their arrival in Canada. KMC served us well all through these processes, and they did a wonderful job. Thank you so so much!”

I’m 72 years old, retired, and living with no family in Toronto. KMC and the many friends I met through them have become my family here. Activities like trips to the farm, picking apples, going to mass outside of Toronto, and visiting many places in Ontario were both fun and educational. While us seniors belong a different era, KMC makes sure that we are up-to-date with many things and happy. Long live, seniors of Canada!

I came to Canada as a stateless Tibetan, and I filed my claim. With no formal education and knowledge of English (I knew Tibetan and Nepali), everything was confusing and new to me. One of my friends told me about the KMC’s Library Settlement Program at Parkdale Library and I met with a settlement worker who spoke my language and helped me with my permanent residence application. Thank you very much.

KMC assisted in first, my, and then later, my husband’s and daughter’s settlement in Canada. They helped my husband find a job, and connected all of us to very useful community health centre and other community services. Summer trips like the cherry-picking trip and the tulip festival in Ottawa were particularly enjoyable!

As a newcomer to Canada, my connection to KMC’s services has been very helpful. I never felt alone and always knew that I could reach out and get the necessary

information for my new journey in a new country. Your webinars and involvement have helped me tremendously to build my own support network and meet new people who were going through the same experience as me.

I had the fortune of participating in KMC’s English and Computer Training programs. Through these and other activities, I gained new experiences, new skills, and new connections and these give me a huge sense of accomplishment and happiness.
