Kababayan Multicultural Centre (KMC)
offers services primarily as a settlement agency. Our staff includes settlement workers who are trained in connecting newcomers with resources that will help them adjust to life in Canada. These resources are mainly for newcomers, for people who have been in Canada for less than 5 years.
At Kababayan, our settlement workers offer these services to newcomers:
We provide you with a Welcome Kit, along with an orientation that aids you in the process of settling into Canada.
INTERPRETATION AND TRANSLATION
We provide assistance in communicating in English, especially documents related to employment, education, and legal matters necessary for your immediate settlement.
We have professionally trained settlement counselors that can assist and support you to better expose your strengths, and help improve your family's well being in Canada.
CIVICS SELF-DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
We orient you and inform you about programs, workshops, and group sessions you can attend, which can help you become better involved in the community.
We offer information about workers' rights as well as opportunities on skills training and workshops on employment-related topics and issues.
Referring you to the appropriate organization that best respond to your needs.
We host computer classes to give participants basic administrative skills for employment and/or personal purposes.
CAREGIVER'S SUPPORT NETWORK
Provide caregivers access to immigration, employment and community news and updates through supportive discussion opportunities.
