CORE SERVICES
OTHER PROGRAMS
Racialized, immigrant women face many challenges in the workforce. They are often found in low-paid, unstable care worker jobs with few benefits and protections. These jobs are essential but undervalued, and women in these roles earn less and save less, making it hard to escape poverty. They also face barriers like having their qualifications overlooked, gender discrimination, and limited job security, which makes it difficult to find stable employment and advance professionally. This economic instability and lack of access to supportive networks makes it difficult for them to build social connections and fully participate in the Canadian society.
In response, KMC established the Kababayan Caregiver Network in 2005 to provide a supportive community for racialized, low-income women experiencing social isolation. Building on this network, we developed programs and services specifically designed to address their unique needs, help them overcome life challenges, and secure better employment opportunities.
Through our wide range of free services, including supportive counseling, skills-building workshops, and recreational activities, KMC aims to empower these women, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to thrive in their personal and professional lives.
